Got tons done around the trails today! I think we had the biggest digging group we've ever had which made for some quick work of the new sets in Onlys. The 6th landing is completely stacked and nothing shy of MASSIVE! The 7th lip is nearly completed...just needs about another foot added to the top and she'll be a 7 foot sender ready to blast to the moon. Transplanted a few small trees today as well, we hate when we need to take them out so why not at least give them the chance to grow! Check out the photos below. Love having a camera, we can finally make these posts worth a shit:) Oh and peep the birdhouse my Dad built, we have three of them hung around the trails and one more to put up at some point. Waiting for Ryan to monkey his ass up into a tree to do the last one haha.

Pitney Woods...1940 Edition.

My roommate found this arial shot of Pitney Woods circa 1940. As you can see it wasn't so much "woods" back then. It was all farmland back then and that road that comes from the barn to the bottom of the screen is that god damn rock path that goes right down the center of the trails. So far we've found ways over and around the path so its been no big deal.

Productive Sunday!

Awesome day of digging yesterday. The weather couldn't have been better for our first full Sunday at the trails! So here are the list of things that got accomplished:

1. Built up the 5th BB landing for max speed!

2. Started squaring up the back of the 6th BB lip and totally stacked and squared the landing of that set.

3. Completely piled the 7th lip in BBs.

4. Rob and Josh piled the height for the 6 Only landing...just need to widen things up a bit and square it off.

All-in-all it was a VERY productive day. Lets just hope we can keep them going like this.

Welcome To Deluxe

Ordered this video a few days ago. Hopefully it doesn't take long to arrive. Pretty pumped about it! Probably have a TRAILS ONLY BMX movie night once it arrives and my roommate gets his Xbox back(it took a shit but Microsoft is fixing it up for free). I picked up the most recent Pretty Shady a while back and it only plays on the Xbox. I also have the PAWoods 10 year vid that I'm sure most have not seen. We'll have a few beers and pop that shit up on the big screen and get everyone stoked on digging again!

Birdman

Ok, so I'm talking about a different "Birdman" but I thought the picture would get your attention. We have this guy that pops in and out of the woods from time to time with crazy ass binoculars and gear to gock at birds...hence his nickname bird man. Up until now the dude has been totally cool, or at least seemed that way. Well apparently yesterday he decided, for whatever reason, that he thinks the trails have gone far enough. That our current sets are as far as they need to go. I'm not sure what his deal is but rest assured that we have only just begun. My assumption is that he didn't see any wonderful little birdies to shake his dick at and probably thinks we are to blame. We haven't cut down a single tree nor have we made any attempt to stiffle the wildlife in that part of the woods, fuck if we didn't love nature we would build trails in an open feild...its easier to build whatever you want when there isn't trees, roots, and stupid shit in the way! The only thing we've done is clean out some under brush and remove old dead wood that has fallen from the winter. I'm pretty confident that he is the ONLY other person that even goes into those woods other than ourselves. If someone like this guy does anything to ruin the trails for us I'll fucking lose my mind for sure. Don't get me wrong, I love BMX, but at this point the trails are really the one thing keeping me in it. So I guess for now all we can do is keep our fingers crossed and are heads high that the bird man gets over it and that he starts seeing fucking birds zipping around soon so he can get off our fucking backs!

The Hut

Started laying down some work on the hut. Got a good bit done but didn't get a chance to fire off some pictures before it got dark. You can see it starting to come together below. I fired of some pretty dialed tile work in front of the grill and camouflaged the grill up a bit. Everything is looking sweet. Pretty stoked to get the hut all finished up and rockin'. Back to real digging this weekend if we finish the chill spot Thursday.

Garden the trails!

Picked up some veggies and wild flowers to grow at the trails this year. Corn, tomatoes, onions and jalapenos! Gonna be an awesome summer if this stuff grows like I hope it will.

Day Light Saves Us Time!

Day light savings time has always sort of marked the end of trail season in the fall. Its usually impossible to make it to the trails after work once we "fall back" an hour and the sun starts falling from the sky around 6. With spring comes a chance to "spring forward" an hour. To most this just means you lose an hour of sleep and your internal clock is fucked up for a week or two. But for us trail diggers it means that we FINALLY have enough god damn daylight in the evenings to really get to enjoy the woods and do what needs done to ensure we have a great summer. Sunset should hold off till at least 7:30 and its only going to get later and later as the summer comes our way! So here is to what I consider the official start of trail season...CHEERS!

Finally took the leap into getting set up with a Flickr account. I figured since I recently got a DSLR its going to be the best way to go for keeping things organized as far as riding photos are concerned. Keep your eyes peeled to the right of the page for updates to my Photostream and whatever. Hopefully use that from now on to upload pics to the site as well.

Trails condition.

Here are a few shots from our first day of digging. Brett popped these on his phone. Got my camera yesterday so there will be loads and loads of photo updates from now on! Things are coming along decent at the trails. Piled a whole new lip and started finally working on the over-under set from BB's over Onlys. Did loads of clearing on the next few lines. Wheelbarrow is gone...so the lesson is that we need to lock that shit up or take it with us next year. Pretty bummed about that. Hopefully snag up a new one sometime soon so that we can get back to work on the 270 berm.






















View from the first BBs. Probably only a days labor to get these running. But I'll be holding off on that. The sooner you get things running the sooner people stop stacking dirt and start riding haha. We gotta build at least ten new jumps before I start making shit rideable!

Build the Woods

Hopefully ordering my DSLR today or tomorrow! I ordered the bag and tripod already so its pretty much a done deal. Then I'll have to find a decent deal on a flash and wireless transmitter and I'll be decked out for summer photo shooting in the woods! If anyone has suggestions on decent (but affordable) flashes let me know. Doesn't have to be pro-status just enough to shed some light on a dirty bmx rat mid air. Right now I'm leaning toward a Sigma EF530 DG Super Flash.

PA Woods is doing a shovel test on their site...there are four competitors, who will be the victor?

So if the current 10 day forecast is correct, or even remotely close to correct, its looking very promising for trail digging to start some time next week. I am thinking Thursday evening would be a great day to start hitting the shovels to dirt and making magic happen in the woods. So to all those shit bags and winter hybernators...break out your diggin' shoes and get ready bc its about to begin. We have SO much to do this year its insane but I think if everyone actually shows up and starts chipping in we can get the place super dialed before you know it!
So put away your bibles, your beers (or at least bring em to the trails), your cock, your god damn polo sticks, or whatever it is thats been holding your attention this winter and get the fuck out to the woods next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skateit Construction

Rob sent me this shot today of Skateit in Manheim. I guess they are doing some revamping which would be great. The place is small but well built, hopefully they utilize the space a little better...oh and get rid of their stupid ass bike hours!
